28 Penton Street

One of my favorite projects was the "28 Penton Street, Centre for Memory and Learning" - an anti-apartheid initiative undertaken for the Liliesleaf Trust UK. For this project, I focused on the 1956 Women's March, which protested the introduction of passes for black women that had been implemented in 1952.

For this project, I experimented with the mono silkscreen printing process to create original images of the protest leaders and Prime Minister J.G. Strjjdom. Although it was my first time using this technique, I was extremely pleased with the final results. Learning and applying this new skill was a rewarding experience, and I look forward to further developing my silkscreen printing abilities.
The project enabled me to create a brief animated video inspired by my original pen-and-ink illustrations.
The project's final outcome was a simple zine that informed readers about the key individuals involved in the women's protest against passes.
